Valenciennes are in a good form recently as they succeeded in getting a second consecutive win last round away at Evian.
It’s true that Evian only had crippled attacking attempts, but even so, Valenciennes appeared stable and confident in defense.
2 rounds ago both regular central midfielders (Enza-Yamissi and Ducourtioux) couldn’t play due to suspension, so Da Silva partnered Doumbia in central midfield. Their performances were so solid that last round, after Enza-Yamissi had fulfilled his suspension, Da Silva and Doumbia were chosen to start again. Now Ducourtioux will also return after suspension but it remains to be seen if he will make the team.
Forward Waris is a very weird player due to the alternating morale. He can be invisible for one round and man of the match the other. His mental attributes seem to be at low levels and his performances in the field are affected by this. He is still young (only 22) and under the right guidance this can be fixed in no time. Meanwhile he scores whenever he feels comfortable on the field, as it happened again last round.
Fullback Mater suffered an injury and is doubtful ahead of this game.
Ajaccio’s play-maker Cavalli missed again last round (lost 2-1 against Guingamp) and the team relied only on midfielders Andre and Lasne. More or less they did their job, Lasne scored and Andre was once again very active. But the rest of players heavily disappointed. Midfielder Goncalves for example concentrated only on impressing the scouts who are after bargains, especially with Ajaccio going to Ligue2 at the end of the season. So Goncalves closed his eyes and started running… He lost the ball in many of his escapades, one of which led to Ajaccio conceding. Good news as Goncalves is suspended for this game.
Even if Ajaccio used 5 defenders the spaces between them were just huge. Adding to that the slow motion movement we can understand how Ajaccio got to be in this situation.
Cavalli, Zubar and Bonnart should return after injury. Especially Cavalli should be an important boost for the offensive phase.
For Valenciennes this is a must win game so there is a high possibility for hosts to be more aggressive than usual. Ajaccio’s defense is very loose lately so hosts should be able to find the net. But with play-maker Cavalli back and nothing to lose, Ajaccio could also be more courageous and pose more threats. Over 2.5 goals at 2.11
UPDATE: Midfielder Cavalli is still out for Ajaccio. Same bet
