Troyes Nantes Preview

troyes nantes preview

Although they are isolated at the bottom of the table, Troyes are in full confidence after winning their first Ligue1 game this season (won 3-1 away at Lille). It was a strange game with Lille holding most of the possession, but struggling to open up a determined side.

Winger Cabot was mostly a bench warmer so far, but is now a hero at Troyes after scoring a double last round.

This victory will surely give them wings and will make them more determined than ever. This is their chance, if their really want to avoid relegation Troyes must build on last week’s victory.

Disappointing result for Nantes last round, as they held the lead for most of the game but got equalized in the dying moments (finished 2-2). It is funny how the tables have turned, seeing that two rounds ago Nantes were the ones who equalized in extra time (2-2 vs Guingamp).

At least Nantes started scoring goals. In the first part of the season the major problem was in the attacking phase, as Nantes simply couldn’t find the net. In 2016 it seems that chemistry and confidence improved, and now Nantes are scoring exactly 2 goals per game since the season resumed.

Unfortunately they also started conceding more goals. The defense is not that stable, central defenders Djidji and Vizcarrondo seem to lack confidence and make many unforced mistakes. Experienced defender Cana isn’t doing any better and even scored an own goal last round.

Fullbacks advanced frequently (Lenjani even delivered an assist last round) and sometimes they neglect the defensive duties.

Nantes may be without central defender Djidji who is doubtful.

Surprisingly all of Troyes’ games in 2016 have gone “over”. Things shouldn’t change now since they will push harder than usual after last week’s victory. By now Nantes are accustomed with open football, so this can easily turn into a goal feast. Over 2.5 goals at 2.13

UPDATE: Troyes will have to do without winger Cabot, the hero from last round. Nantes welcome back fullback Sabaly.
