Troyes Monaco Preview

troyes monaco preview

Poor performance from Troyes last round against Bastia and they should be thankful for winning a point (finished 1-1).

The first part of the tournament is almost over and Troyes are yet to win a game. About a month ago it appeared that Troyes increased efforts and they are pretty close of getting the much desired victory. Unfortunately Troyes are very limited in capabilities and all they could get was a couple of draws.

Upfront they rely exclusively on long balls from the flanks and it’s no wonder they have the poorest scoring record in the league (only 0.55 goals scored per game).

Hosts will most probably miss creative midfielder Nivet who got injured last week, but welcome back midfielder Darbion after suspension.

Although they won 1-0 Monaco were a bit disappointing last week against St Etienne. Only after opponents got a red card Monaco took charge of the game and started to apply pressure. The winning goal arrived from penalty and it was a natural consequence of the numerical superiority.

They have had some problems with injuries lately (keeper Subasic, winger Carillo and Cavaleiro, defenders Raggi and Coentrao), but luckily Monaco have a large squad with talented players waiting for a chance on the bench.

In the midweek Cup game Monaco welcomed back winger Cavaleiro and defender Raggi, but even so, they got completely outplayed by a determined Bordeaux (Bordeaux won 3-0).

The difference in quality is huge and the odds can’t be justified no matter how hard we try. Monaco may not be in the best possible form, but the difference in value should be enough for getting all points. Monaco -0.5 at 1.98

UPDATE: Hosts will have to do without forward Jean. Monaco’s midfielder Pasalic suffered an injury and will join Traore, Carillo, Coentrao and Subasic on the sidelines
