It’s been two months already since Toulouse won a game. Last round opponents Guingamp were hungry for points, started in force, scored twice early in the game and even if Toulouse clearly dominated the rest of the encounter they didn’t had enough willpower to bounce back (lost 2-0).
Toulouse had to do without defensive midfielder Aguilar. His place was taken by 21 years old Furman who played mostly for the 2nd team so far this season. Furman’s presence eased opponents’ job as he was very hesitant and his lack of experience was seen especially when Toulouse conceded.
Now Aguilar will return after suspension and most likely will go straight in the lineup.
Opponents Valenciennes are already relegated and recorded a 6th consecutive defeat last round on home ground against Monaco (lost 2-1). Monaco didn’t had to push that hard as Valenciennes were apathetic, demoralized and didn’t feel like playing. Corroborating this attitude with players’ limited skills and Valenciennes can be put in difficulty by a neighborhood team nowadays.
Guests will be without top scorer Waris who headed to Ghana for World Cup preparations and midfielder Enza-Yamissi.
Even if Toulouse haven’t won for quite some time the actual display in the field is pretty decent, as they create lots of scoring opportunities each round. They only need to be a bit more efficient in the finishing phase. Against already relegated Valenciennes there is no doubt Toulouse will make some extra efforts to finish the season with a comfortable win in-front of own fans. Toulouse -1 at 2.14
UPDATE: Toulouse will miss defensive midfielder Aguilar who suffered an injury. On the other hand hosts welcome back defender Sylla and play-maker Chantome. Winger Dossevi was left outside Valencienne’s squad.
