Offensively Toulouse keep on getting worse. The number of real chances created decreases as round goes by.
Nothing and nobody can take forward Braithwaite out of the first team, no matter how poor his performances are and no matter the harm done to the team.
All central midfielders are often engaged in the offensive phase, in order to combat forward’s Braithwaite lack of skills. Toulouse is the only team in Ligue1 using a defense in 3. And when there is no support from the midfield things can get ugly.
Central defenders Abdennour and Spajic are available again after injury and suspension.
Offensive midfielder Trejo (the only real central attacking midfielder in the team) will be suspended, meaning the other central midfielders (Aguilar and Chantome) will be even more advanced in the attempt to counter the lack of attacking power.
I’ve never seen Sochaux so determined like in the last 2 rounds. In comparison to a month ago Sochaux is a totally different team.
Even defensively (weakest part of the team before) Sochaux are more lucid and confident in interventions. Upfront they found some consistency after changing the system and using 2 strikers, Bakambu and Mayuka. Both of them are slowly but surely picking up form and rhythm.
About a month ago, most of Sochaux’s actions were carried out on the right flank (Sochaux’s strength). With fullback Corchia and winger Contout the power of the right wing hasn’t diminished, but Sochaux covers more areas of the field now.
Winger Roudet suffered an injury against Bastia and will miss this game. But recently he was only substitute so his absence won’t influence the game.
On the other hand Sochaux will welcome back 2 players with defensive profiles: Zouma and Lopy after suspension. Both of them should go straight into the lineup and increase the defensive power.
Toulouse with uninspired Braithwaite upfront and with no real attacking central midfielder will have to bring defensive players high up the field. Sochaux having found some balance and confidence can speculate on counters and surprise Toulouse’s defense in 3.
To be honest I expected lower odds for Toulouse and consequently a higher handicap for Sochaux. But the odds of 1.92 for Sochaux +0.75 is still good enough.
