Toulouse – Reims Preview

reims lorient preview

Last round away at Rennes coach Arribage decided to start in a defensive formula and left important forward Ben Yedder on the bench. After only a couple of minutes Toulouse took the lead and it seemed this new strategy would pay off. Unfortunately Toulouse collapsed pretty soon and ended up losing 3-1.

The partnership Trejo – Regattin in attacking midfield was not that convincing and the two of them barely exchanged passes and instead were always advancing on their own. Central midfielder Doumbia is still suspended by the club and his place in the lineup was taken by Brazilian Somalia. Somalia is a powerful player, mostly concentrated on the defensive phase, but unfortunately he is very slow and has major problems in keeping up with opponents.

Most probably coach Arribage will switch back to normal in this round and will start with 2 forwards, replacing Regattin with Ben Yedder in the lineup.

Reims were very pragmatic last round against Lorient and managed to convert most of their chances (won 4-1). The difference was not that big as the scoreline suggests but thanks to the fast attacking players Reims were able to take opponents by surprise and easily win.

Offensive players Kyei, Turan and Charbonnier scored their first goals of the season and will surely enter this game with increased confidence.

Although there are couple of problems on the left side where fullback Signorino is right next to central defender Weber, Reims’ defense is pretty decent so far.

Until now Toulouse played two home games, both against powerful opponents (Monaco and St Etienne), and in both encounters Toulouse were very open and tried to push the game forward from the start. It shouldn’t be any different against Reims who are in good confidence and should be able to make the most of their agile forwards. Entertaining game is foreseen with plenty of opportunities and a couple of goals. Over 2.25 goals at 1.99

UPDATE: Reims will have to do without forward Ngog.
