Toulouse believed in their chance last round, pushed until the final moments and got rewarded with 1 point (drew 1-1 at Lyon).
The entire game they focused only on the left flank where winger Sylla was very active. On the other other side winger Aurier was suspended and his place was taken by Ninkov.
Ninkov is a decent player but lately he was only a reserve and lost form and rhythm. As a consequence he couldn’t be of much help last round. Fortunately for Toulouse Aurier will return after suspension and they will be able to cover both sides of the field.
Even striker Braithwaite (whom I criticized a lot) had a good performance. I think it’s because he changed the hairstyle, from afro to cornrows. He is more aerodynamic now so he seems faster.
Montpellier’s coach Fernandez resigned after the defeat last round (lost 2-0 at home to Lorient). Montpellier is the 2nd team Fernandez destroyed in a year, after Nancy last season who relegated mainly because of him.
Assistant coach Pascal Baills will take over until a new coach is appointed. He will have major headaches in putting together a competitive team. The defense will be decimated as both central defenders Hilton and El Kaoutari will miss after getting red cards last round. Defensive midfielder midfielder Saihi suffered an injury at warm up before the game against Lorient and will most probably miss.
Remains to be seen what the new coach will improvise in the defense and what players will be converted to the central defender position. But no matter how the lineup will look, they will have major problems, especially with Braithwaite’s new hairstyle…
Upfront Montpellier’s striker Montano is totally disconnected. He should disguise and start playing women football as only there he could beat the keeper with such soft shots.
Toulouse to win at the odds of 2.05 is the bet of the round in Ligue1. Most of you know I don’t often recommend high stakes, but in this case Toulouse to win can be taken with a healthy sum.
