Toulouse – Montpellier Preview

toulouse montpellier preview

TOULOUSE

Toulouse didn’t stood a chance last week away at Lyon and ended up losing at a forfeit score (Lyon won 3-0). The problem with Toulouse is that they aren’t constant in efforts and also lack confidence.

As soon as opponents begin holding possession Toulouse reduce rythm, lose hope and simply wait to concede without posing much opposition. Toulouse get so soft when opponents start to exchange a few passes that they are simply unrecognizable.

Unfortunately coach Arribage is not exactly a good psychologist and seems to be unable to motivate his players.

The same thing happened in the Cup when Toulouse were pretty close of being eliminated and qualified to the next stage only after penalties (3-3 in regular time against Auxerre who played in 10 both extra time halves)

Midfielder Doumbia suffered an injury last week and is doubtful.

MONTPELLIER

Montpellier struggled a bit last round against Bastia, especially in the first half (no attempt on target), but things changed immediately after the break when 22 years old Ninga entered the field (Montpellier won 2-0)

Ninga was recently promoted from the youth squad and last round he managed to score his first goal in Ligue1. The moment he entered the field Montpellier started looking more lively in the attacking phase.

Ninga seems to be exactly what Montpellier needed as they were resourceless in the attacking phase

Montpellier used mostly reserves in the Cup away at Lorient but still made a decent game and constantly tried to push the game forward.

BETTING

If Toulouse would have shown some consistency a bet on them would have been the perfect choice. But until now Toulosue always collapsed as soon as opponents started applying pressure.
