Toulouse’s coach Casanova surprised everyone last round and started with three strikers. He placed Pesic between Ben Yedder and Braithwaite and Toulouse seemed more lively than ever (they won 2-1 away at Nantes).
Even if Pesic clearly preferred to engage in actions with Ben Yedder instead of Braithwaite, he constantly oscillated between flanks and tried to act as the link between compartments.
In this formula wingers had more space available as opponents were busy marking the three forwards. At times, wingers had a clear path towards the net and Sylla even managed to score.
But this round Toulouse should switch back to the old system (3-5-2) as important midfielder Aguilar returns from suspension and will surely take his place in the lineup. Either Pesic or Braithwaite will watch only from the bench.
Impressive display from Monaco last round against Lens (won 2-0). Central defender Wallace got a red card in the first half and Monaco had to play in 10 for about an hour.
Monaco still controlled the game and constantly cornered the opponent regardless they were in numerical inferiority.
The result is even more impressive as Monaco had to do without central defenders Raggi and Carvalho (both of them are once again doubtful for this round). If neither recovers coach Jardim will have some headaches in improvising a defense as replacement Wallace is suspended. Problems don’t stop here as fullback Kurzawa is still injured and replacement Echiejile suffered an injury last round and most likely will sit out.
The opponent was more accessible, but even so, Monaco proved last round they can deal with problems in the defensive department by compensating with a solid midfield and talented attacking players hungry for action.
Both sides had somewhat disappointing performances and results recently (Toulouse maybe more than Monaco) but the actual moment is good for both clubs. This game can be a great option for live betting (especially on goals) once we see the lineups. If Toulouse will again start with three forwards and if Monaco will do some heavy improvising in defense this will definitely be an entertaining encounter.
UPDATE: Toulouse will miss fullback Tisserand ho is not allowed to play against the club that loaned him. Monaco welcome back defender Raggi.
