Hosts’ coach Casanova can be very weird sometimes. Last week he left attacking player Pesic on the bench exactly when the chemistry between him and forward Ben Yedder was at a maximum level.
Casanova preferred to start with Braithwaite as the 2nd forward and Regattin as attacking midfielder. Both of them had disappointing performances and they also dragged down forward Ben Yedder.
Most of you know by now that Toulouse use a 3-5-2 system in which speed on the flanks is a necessity. Coach Casanova made another vital mistake last week as he started with veteran Siriex as right winger, instead of using Ninkov or Tisserand. Siriex is 34 years old and barely lifts his feet at this age. As a result Toulouse’s right flank was nonexistent in the attacking phase and a major liability in the defensive phase. It is no wonder Montpellier’s winger Mounier (Siriex’s direct opponent) was the man of the match…
Hopefully coach Casanova will get his head straight as Toulouse have huge potential and it is simply a shame to be wasted.
Lorient won last round against Lens by a minimum margin (1-0). Opponents got a red card 15 minutes into the game and concentrated all forces in defense afterwards. Lorient created many dangerous opportunities and continuously pushed the game forward, but it was difficult for them to open up a defense in 7 or 8 players.
Lorient now sit just one place above the relegation zone and this positive result was a breath of fresh air that surely boosted the confidence level.
The left flank with fullback Le Goff and winger Guerreiro was once again Lorient’s major strength. Guerreiro is in amazing form after scoring 2 decisive goals last week (the winner in Portugal – Argentina 1-0, and the winner in Lorient – Lens 1-0). It will be an extremely difficult task for Toulouse to stop Guerreiro, no matter who will play on that side (especially if it will once again be grandpa Siriex…)
Lorient will welcome back important central defender Lautoa after suspension. Young forward Lavigne suffered an injury and most probably will sit out. But possible replacement Sunu is more experienced and can be a better choice.
Coach Casanova often makes the wrong decisions and this is the primary reason why Toulouse have such negative results in-spite the talented squad. Lorient improved a lot lately and their left flank is simply on fire. With increased confidence Lorient should be able to take advantage of coach’s Casanova lack of vision. Lorient +0.75 at 1.90
UPDATE: Hosts will have to do without midfielder Trejo who suffered an injury. Lorient will miss keeper Audard, forwards Lavigne and Sunu and winger Jouffre. Same bet
