Splendid display by Toulouse last round away at Rennes (won 3-2). Although they conceded twice, defensively Toulouse were pretty solid and only when opponents attacked in numbers and created agglomerations they seemed to be in trouble.
Needles to say that it won’t be the case against Evian, who are offensively shy. Furthermore Toulouse will be safer in defense, seeing that central defender Spajic will return after fulfilling his suspension.
Play-maker Chantome showed increased playing appetite and even managed to score his first goal since being loaned from PSG. This achievement will surely boost his confidence and give him wings for the game against Evian.
Only good news for Toulouse as winger Akpa-Akpro should return after injury and increase the attacking power. Midfielder Roman, who transferred-in this summer but had been injured ever since, finally took part at his first collective training and may even play for a couple of minutes.
Evian’s luck ran out. They were fortunate enough to get two consecutive wins after average performances, but last round against Valenciennes we could see how soft Evian really are.
Offensive players took so much time in-front of goal that even opponents’ keeper started yawning. Those involved in the defensive phase made a considerable number of errors, one of which proved to be decisive.
Evian will once again miss central midfielder Kone who is suspended and winger Sougou who is injured. Only forward De Melo could return, but he is not of much use and bringing him from Lille may not have been such a good idea.
Evian have so many weak parts that those following them have problems in realizing what’s the weakest of them all…
Toulouse are superior to Evian from all points of view, especially now when they are flying high after getting a third consecutive Ligue1 win. Toulouse -0.75 at 1.91
UPDATE: Toulouse’s winger Akpa-Akpro is still injured.
