St Etienne finished 2017 on a negative series of 3 defeats. Players were very nervous and got a red card in each of those games.
St Etienne have plenty of talent, especially in midfield, but unfortunately something is just not clicking and they finished the year with only 20 points.
They had an easy game in Coupe de France last week against Ligue 2 side Nimes, especially since opponents played in 10 for about 80 minutes…. (St Etienne won 2-0).
This winter St Etienne transferred-in experienced midfielder M’Vila. He is a highly skilled player accustomed with Ligue1, but a difficult character in the same time.
Toulouse were pretty disappointing in the first part of the season. At one point it seemed they found some rhythm, but unfortunately they lacked consistency and were never able to build a momentum.
Coach Dupraz also lacked inspiration and proved unable to fully exploit players’ skills. For example he left winger Durmaz on the bench, exactly when he was in top form.
St Etienne surely have their problems, but should be able to control this game in midfield, and that will make all the difference. St Etienne -0.5 at 2.23
