St Etienne scored two goals per game in the last two rounds, and that’s a really surprising achievement, considering their performances so far this season. Now, when there is no more pressure, attackers finally regained their playing appetite.
Slovenian forward Beric was extremely active last week and even found the net. It was not enough to pick up all points (finished 2-2 against Bordeaux), but St Etienne don’t have any special objective to achieve, and a good performance is rewarding enough. Although they are not involved in the title fight, St Etienne have the power to decide the Champions (well…more or less), as they will play both against PSG and Monaco in the next rounds.
Hosts will have to do without midfielder Pajot, but welcome back defender Pogba, midfielder Corgnet and forward Soderlund
PSG fully controlled the game against Bastia last week, but finding the net wasn’t an easy task (even if they won 5-0). Bastia were very organized and successfully covered most spaces. The last 3 goals were scored in the final 15 minutes, when opponents were exhausted and simply gave up.
Although nobody from the club will say anything about it publicly, PSG are surely demoralized after losing away at Nice two rounds ago. Their chances for winning the title diminished considerably after that game.
PSG will miss Di Maria and Thiago Motta due to suspension, while Kurzawa, Krychowiak, Pastore and Ben Arfa are injured.
In the first game St Etienne created plenty of problems for PSG and managed to win a point in Paris. Now they are relaxed, there is no pressure, and attacking players finally found some rhythm. The odds on PSG have no value. ST ETIENNE +1.5 at 1.90
