St Etienne PSG Preview

st etienne psg preview

St Etienne mildly dominated last week away at Reims, but immediately after scoring they got lazy and took the foot off the gas.

The inevitable happened and St Etienne got equalized in the final moments (finished 1-1). Hopefully they learned their lesson and from now on they’ll play at the same intensity until the final whistle.

Attacking-wise St Etienne weren’t very convincing and it’s clear they are severely missing winger Hamouma, who will once again sit out through injury.

Central defender Perrin also suffered an injury last week and most probably will sit out as well.

PSG had an easy game in the Cup against Toulouse. Even if they used a mixed squad (Trapp, Ibrahimovic, Lucas, Maxwell, Matuidi and Motta started only on the bench) they had no problems in controlling the game and imposing the rythm.

PSG’s value can’t be denied, the only problem is that they sometimes look very bored. In home games the fanatic crowd wakes them up and transmits energy, but it’s an entire different story when playing away.

They played two away games so far in 2016, and scored only one goal in each game (won 1-0 both games), including the game against amateurs Wasquehal in the French Cup.

PSG are always dominating in Ligue1, and this game shouldn’t be any different. But when it comes to determination we may be surprised by St Etienne. They surely learned a lesson from last round, and also playing against PSG always adds extra motivation.
