ST ETIENNE

It’s been a hesitant start of the year for St Etienne who were outplayed last week away at Nantes, in-spite scoring the first goal (lost 2-1).

The good news is that coach Galtier realized that St Etienne’s biggest weakness was the offensive phase, and he transferred-in two valuable forwards: Soderlund from Rosenborg and Tannane from Heerenven. Both of them are highly skilled players, Soderlund was top scorer in Norway and Tannane is a young talent who plays for Netherlands U21.

Once they will adapt St Etienne should become a force in Ligue1 and aim for European places.

LYON

Surprisingly Lyon used a mixed squad in the midweek Cup game away at Paris, but still managed to create a few problems for Champions PSG (lost 2-1).

Keeper Lopes, midfielder Grenier and forward Lacazette will return to the lineup this round, and they should be joined by Valbuena who resumed training this week. Still, Lyon’s fans shouldn’t get their hopes up, as Valbuena is out of form and was clearly preoccupied by other things last time he played.

But nowadays Lyon look good even without Valbuena, they are confident and have enough resources to cover for his absence.

Guests may once again miss defensive midfielder Gonalons who suffered an injury last week.

BETTING

There is a big rivalry here and games between St Etienne and Lyon have always been entertaining. St Etienne are desperate to improve their offensive phase and most probably will focus mostly on the attacking aspect. Lyon are always dangerous and can score after only a couple of touches, without the need for prolonged possession. Over 2.5 goals at 2.11

UPDATE: St Etienne will miss winger Hamouma, forward Roux and defender Perrin. Lyon welcome back midfielders Gonalons and Valbuena but will miss forward Beauvue.
