ST ETIENNE – BASTIA

ST ETIENNE:

St Etienne are coming after a somewhat difficult Europa League game against Milsami (St Etienne won 1-0), a game in which they, missed key players Hamouma and Bahebeck. In Ligue1 they finally managed to win after 3 rounds, but only because opponents played in 10 for the entire game (won 1-0 over Lorient).

As it’s been mentioned before on LGF St Etienne focus mostly on building actions down the flanks. Winger Hamouma is in good form and he even manged to score the winner last round, and left winger Bahebeck should once again be available after injury.

Sadly for St Etienne in the center of the attacking line is mediocre forward Roux and attacking midfielder Eysseric. They are both newly transferred and are yet to adapt. They are eager to prove themselves but most their passes don’t make any difference and they are easily losing possession.

In defense St Etienne have only keeper Ruffier to thank for conceding only twice in 3 rounds…

BASTIA:

Last week the difference between Bastia and Guingamp was not that big, but thanks to collective efforts, good chemistry and coherent tactics Bastia easily won 3-0.

Palmieri is usually a fullback but last round started as a winger. He felt extremely good in that position and scored twice but unfortunately suffered a light knock that forced him off. According to latest reports Palmieri should be available for Sunday’s game, same as goalkeeper Leca who missed last week.

BETTING:

Bastia are very compact and although hosts will be constantly pushing they won’t have too many open spaces to exploit, and relying only in wingers will severely diminish their chances. Bastia are in good confidence and able to take advantage of hosts’ transition period. Bastia +0.75 at 1.97

UPDATE: Bad news for St Etienne as winger Bahebeck hasn’t recovered from injury and is once again sidelined along with Cohade, Pajot and Clerc. Bastia’s fullback Palmieri made it to the squad but keeper Leca is still injured.
