Despite losing 2-0 Sochaux made a good game last round away at Lyon. The opponent was valuable but still Sochaux managed to create a few dangerous opportunities and close all spaces in defense.
It seems that striker Jordan Ayew feels very comfortable at Sochaux, he just loved all the attention, as it is a feeling not familiar to him (he was mostly ignored at Marseille).
[restrict paid=true level=1]At Sochaux he is in the center of attention and all of a sudden it’s like he grew wings. Back heels, long distance shots, through balls, he’s a totally different player. In this manner his first goal for Sochaux is not far away.
Last round Sochuax had 2 more newly transferred-in players in the lineup, Zambians Sinkala and Sunzu. Both of them appeared to be solid players but in the same time prone to making dangerous tackles. The ball could get past them, but not the player… Maybe it was a one time savage attitude in the attempt to impress the coach, teammates and fans, as otherwise I see a wave of cards and even penalties…
In comparison to last round Sochaux will have to do without central midfielder Nogueira who suffered an injury. On the other hand Lopy returned from injury and could substitute Nogueira. Experienced winger Roudet is also available after injury.
Montpellier were pretty lucky to get a draw last round against Monaco. The equalizer was scored from penalty by newly transferred-in striker Niang. Niang is already at his 2nd goal for Montpellier from 2 appearances (Cup + league). Both goals were from penalties. The last one was saved by the keeper but the ball bounced back to Niang. It is a false impression that Niang will solve Montpellier’s offensive issues. Most of all he lacks experience but he also doesn’t excel in speed or ball control.
Usually away from home Montpellier are a bit apathetic and I believe Sochaux will be the ones imposing the rythm of the game. Sochaux +0.25 at the price of 1.70 is definitely a decent bet. Medium confidence.
There are also other bets that come to mind: Jordan Ayew to score at 3.10 can be tried with low stakes.
The designated referee for this game was Fredy Fautrel, but due to some reason unknown to me, Alexandre Castro will be the one refereeing the game. He was also in charge of the 1st game between these teams when 6 yellows cards were shown + a red. It was a game unfairly lost by Sochaux in the dying moments (2-1 for Montpellier).
A bet on over 3.5 yellow cards to be shown is heavily advised. Usually the odds for such bets are around 2.00. The problem is I can’t find this bet anywhere, yet. So instead I took a penalty to be awarded at the price of 4.33 at Paddy Power. [/restrict]
