Although they are still sitting on a position that will take them to Ligue2, Sochaux are doing wonderful as of late. They got 13 points in the last 5 rounds and played among others against PSG (drew 1-1).
The game against Rennes last week was very balanced but Sochaux managed to win it in the end (2-1) by being more committed and organized.
Forward Ayew scored again after a nice delivery from the wing. In-fact most of Sochaux’s actions are carried on the flanks, with both fullbacks and wingers being very active. Especially on the right side where they have Faussurier and Corchia, Sochaux are superior to many Ligue1 clubs.
The equation is very simple for Sochaux, they need to win over Evian in order to remain in Ligue1.
Even if they won by a somewhat comfortable margin (2-0) Evian were far from convincing last round away against Nice. Although Evian were the ones desperate for points, at times it appeared Nice were in charge and imposing the rhythm.
Guests need at least a draw in this final game in order to stay in Ligue1 another season. They won’t adventure upfront especially since they have one of the weakest attacks in Ligue1. It is pretty difficult to open up Evian when they are concentrated in defense, but their major weakness is defending the penalty area from crosses coming from the flanks, which is actually Sochaux’s preferred strategy.
In this moment Sochaux are more confident and their playing style is more lucid and efficient. Football is far from being fair but there has to be a limit… Hosts deserve to stay in Ligue1… Sochaux to win at 1.91
