Round 16: PSG – Evian Preview

[pullquote]There is no doubt that possession in this game will be in net superiority for PSG, but given their weak left flank, the absences of Matuidi and Veratti, and guests’ love for counters, at 1.83 Evian to score is a must take.   [/pullquote]Surprisingly PSG managed to beat Porto and get the 1st place in their Champions league group. But things are far from improvement, as we could see a fragile PSG side, with problems. The major issue is that Ancelotti started using both Armand and Maxwell on the left flank, in the same time. Maxwell was upgraded to midfielder while Armand remained a fullback. That part is constantly prone to errors, as the two players mentioned aren’t even close to new PSG’s value and ambitions. It’s true that while Ibrahimovic is available they have the power to defeat any team in France, but one guy shouldn’t make a team. Midfielders Veratti and Matuidi are suspended. Especially the latter will be missed, as he’s in a good form and lately he was the perfect link between compartments, defense and offense.

Evian are much more dangerous whenever they play against big names. They like being underdogs and have problems whenever are favorites (check the games vs Rennes, St Etienne or Montpellier). They have tremendous power to strike on counters, with the likes of veteran midfielder Barbosa and forwards Khelifa and Sagbo. Good news for them is that midfielder Sorlin will be back from suspension, giving them more power of endurance at the back.
