Rennes are far from producing impressive performances but they are getting results. Last round away at Caen they played in numerical superiority for about 1 hour but could only score the winner from penalty in the dying moments (Rennes won 1-0).
Although they haven’t conceded in the last 2 rounds, defenders leave many open spaces and are nervous in interventions. Upfront they look a bit better, especially on the wings where Grosicki and Ntep are capable of fast paced actions. Ntep is still young and at times he may be selfish in the attempt to prove his skills, but nevertheless he is a talented and gifted player.
Over the years Rennes lost many fans due to poor results and arrogant attitudes of key players. By now their stadium is half empty so one of their goals this season is winning back their fans. There’s only one way to achieve that, high scoring games on home ground. Regardless if they win or lose the show is guaranteed, and after all that’s what football lovers want.
Many expected PSG to win last round against St Etienne but only a few foresaw a trashing (PSG won 5-0). The game was totally one sided with PSG being in control from beginning till end. Ibrahimovic achieved top form after scoring a hat-trick, wingers Cavani and Lucas were in a continuous movement and dazzled opponents, even fullback Maxwell took part in the offensive phase and delivered 2 assists.
PSG will have some defensive problems ahead of this game as central defender David Luiz suffered an injury and most likely will sit out. The other regular central defender Thiago Silva is also out injured. In these conditions Marquinhos will partner Camara in central defense. Nothing new, PSG played in this formula before, but the defensive potential will be heavily diminished.
Against Rennes, who are hungry for success on home ground, PSG will struggle a bit defensively, especially if fullback Maxwell will keep on participating in the offensive phase.
An entertaining encounter is foreseen as both sides should find the net at least once. Over 2.5 goals at 1.90
UPDATE: Rennes will miss winger Grosicki who suffered a last minute injury. PSG are without defenders Luiz, Thiago Silva and Aurier. Same bet
