Impressive comeback from Rennes last round away at Toulouse. After 90 minutes Rennes were 1-0 down, but scored twice in extra time and took all points.
Only the last part of the game was dramatic, as for 90 minutes Rennes seemed shy in their attempts to push the game forward.
Only attacking midfielder Dembele seemed confident and continuously created problems for opponents. Unfortunately Rennes aren’t achieving full potential, as important winger Ntep is out of form, and now it seems he is once again injured.
Overall Rennes have a pretty solid squad, with powerful defenders always in alert, and skilled attacking players ready to strike when opponents least expect it (like it happened last week).
Disappointing result from Nantes in the midweek Cup game against Ligue2 side Sochaux. Nantes were in the lead for most of the game and imposed the rythm, but got equalized in the dying moments and lost after extra time (Sochaux won 3-2).
Nantes once again made many defensive errors, but at least this time they can blame it on coach Der Zakarian who made some changes to the defensive department. Keeper Riou, defenders Vizcarrondo and Sabaly and midfielder Gomis were only on the bench, and should return to action this round.
Attacking-wise Nantes can be very dangerous, but unfortunately the defensive mistakes keep dragging them down.
It’s almost impossible to foresee how this game will be played out, especially since both sides seem to be in good form and have real chances for a place in Europe next season.
UPDATE: Rennes will be without winger Ntep. Nantes welcome back forward Bammou.
