Rennes Nancy Preview

RENNES

Last week Rennes were a bit unlucky to return home empty handed, after they imposed the rythm and had the best of chances (lost 1-0 at Nice).

Rennes have huge potential with Gourcuff and Chantome in midfield, two players who also have experience at international level. Unfortunately Chantome suffered an injury early in the game last round and had to be substituted (is doubtful for this game), while Gourcuff is always injured more than half the season.

Winger Ntep had to sit out because of an injury, and at the moment there are no updates on his condition. Rumors linking him to Lazio have intensified and a transfer shouldn’t be ruled out.

Rennes could be a real force in Ligue 1 if they had a striker with killer instincts, but unfortunately Sio is not such a player.

NANCY

Really disappointing start of the season for Nancy who were clearly outplayed by Lyon on home ground (lost 3-0).

They made many defensive errors, and especially young central defenders Diagne and Lenglet looked overwhelmed.

Veteran midfielder Pedretti (played for Lille a couple of seasons ago) was by far their best player and was in the center of most actions. He sent a couple of impressive through balls, but forwards were too slow and uninspired to apply the finishing touch.

Captain Hadji missed because of an injury and may return this round. With Hadji in the lineup Nancy will be more dangerous, especially if Pedretti will show the same ingenuity.

Guests will once again miss defender Chretien who is injured.

BETTING

Rennes may not have a golden boot candidate in their ranks, but it won’t take much to score against a side whose central defenders lack experience and make constant blunders. RENNES -0.50 at 2.12
