Rennes couldn’t achieve much last round against Monaco, and it was no surprise they left home empty handed (Monaco won 3-0).
Key winger Ntep started in the lineup last round, but was uninspired and easily lost possession. Rennes will go through a difficult period until important midfielders Chantome and Gourcuff will return from injury, and until Ntep achieves full potential. When all those conditions will be fulfilled, Rennes can easily become Europa League candidates.
Rennes have solid players in defense, but since they always invite opponents to attack there is too much pressure on defenders.
Midfielders Gourcuff and Chantome will sit out again.
Marseille mildly dominated last round against Lyon, but it was not enough to take all points (finished 0-0). Their scoring attempts were shy, mostly because the passes coming from midfielders lacked precision and ingenuity.
The good news is that fullback Bedimo returned to the lineup and Marseille were much more confident on the left flank. Bedimo should continue in the lineup, while Rekik should be only on the bench.
Important midfielders Alessandrini and Cabela continue to miss through injury. The creativity level will sky rocket when both of them return to the lineup.
Guests will have to do without central defender Doria who is suspended.
Both sides seem to be lacking inspiration at the moment and a goalless draw shouldn’t surprise anyone.
