Rennes Bordeaux Preview

rennes bordeaux preview

RENNES

So far Rennes managed to win all their home games, but it must be said that the performances in the last 2 games have been really disappointing. They won those games only because of red cards, cards that were easily awarded to say the least.

The creativity level diminished considerably when midfielder Gourcuff got injured. He seems to be the most fragile player in the world, so it was bound to happen sooner or later. Gourcuff is back in the squad now and things should get back to normal.

From a defensive point of view Rennes are far from impressive, and there are always open spaces on the flanks, as fullbacks Danze and Ball advance frequently.

Hosts will miss defensive midfielder Fernandes who is suspended.

BORDEAUX

Bordeaux conceded very early last round away at PSG (after only 3 minutes), and unfortunately abandoned all hope. Usually they are very aggressive in away games and successfully exploit all spaces, no matter how tiny they are.

Last round they were also a bit more cautious, and started with only 3 attacking players, instead of 4 (the usual formula). Only in second half coach Gourvennec changed system and introduced another attacking player. It was the first time Bordeaux played in that formula, and most probably they will switch back to the normal system this round.

In defense they look a bit better since midfielder Toulalan returned from injury, but keeper Carrasso remains their best defensive player, and only thanks to his incredible reflexes they conceded only twice in the last 3 rounds.

BETTING

With Gourcuff back in the squad, Rennes can definitely be more dangerous than in previous rounds. This can easily be a very entertaining encounter, with fast paced actions of both ends, and a couple of goals. Hopefully the referee won’t ruin the show with red cards. OVER 2.25 at 1.97
