Reims – Rennes Preview

Reims got 3 vital points last week after a balanced game in which they converted all their opportunities (won 3-2 at Evian).

Offensive players once again delivered but defenders were always late at the ball and had bad positioning. This game sums up perfectly Reims’ entire season with a leaky defense and an efficient attacking phase.

With 2 rounds to go Reims are only 4 points above the relegation zone, and even if they travel at PSG in the final round there aren’t many chances for Reims to relegate (direct opponents Evian are terrible form).

Veteran midfielder Devaux suffered an injury last round and most probably will sit out.

Rennes is like a mystery nobody can decipher. Until now they got positive results but had poor performances and when they finally make a good game and apply continuous pressure Rennes end up with no points.

The game against Bastia last week was one sided with Rennes in charge from the first whistle. The referee was also on their side as they played against 10 for an entire half. Rennes created numerous scoring opportunities but somehow managed to miss the all of them (even missed a penalty). Meanwhile Bastia converted the single major opportunity they had (Bastia won 1-0).

Guests should use the same squad as last round since there are no new injuries.

Unfortunately for Reims their defensive phase can’t be improved no matter how hard they focus. With one eye at Evian’s results and the other on the field Reims’ defenders will have huge problems against Ntep and company, no matter if Rennes will have an impressive performance or not (they can win points regardless the efforts made). Rennes +0.25 at 2.06
