Reims Nice Preview

reims nice preview

Disappointing result from Reims last round against Troyes. Reims imposed the rythm since the first whistle, took the lead in the first half, but reduced efforts afterwards and had to split points in the end (1-1 vs Troyes).

Reims have considerably improved recently and look much more confident, both defensively and offensively. They just need to be constant in efforts for 90 minutes and positive results will undoubtedly appear.

Winger Diego was only on the bench last round (because of injury) and neither Fortes nor Bulot could successfully take over his tasks. Although he hasn’t scored so far, Diego is really important for the attacking phase as he is a specialist in set pieces. No matter how far the free-kick is, Reims can add a lot of pressure thanks to Diego’s shots.

Hosts will welcome back fullback Traore after suspension.

Ligue1 is getting weirder by the round and Nice is proof of that. About two months ago Nice were scoring goals from all positions and had the best attack in the tournament. Now they haven’t scored in three round and barely created a couple of decent chances.

Everything started when coach Puel changed system. From the classic 4-3-1-2 Nice switched to a formula with 3 central defenders (3-5-2). At first the change paid off as Nice haven’t conceded in two rounds, but then the attacking phase started to be affected and Nice had difficulties in pushing the game forward.

From one of the most entertaining football teams in Europe, Nice became one of the most boring teams on the continent. Coach Puel surely must be aware of the consequences of the new system and hopefully will switch back pretty soon.

Guests will miss midfielder Hult but welcome back keeper Hassen after suspension.

In normal circumstances this game would have had great potential for going over, but not with Nice playing with 3 central defenders and Reims reducing efforts only after half an hour.

UPDATE: Reims will have to without defender Signorino and forward De Preville (suspended) and keeper Agassa
