REIMS

Disappointing performance by Reims last week away at Nice (lost 2-0). Reims are now sitting in the 17th position that will play a relegation playoff against 3rd place from Ligue2.

With games against Marseille and Lyon in the final rounds, assuring another season in Ligue1 is quite a difficult task for Reims.

In 2016 coach Guegan continuously changed system, but instead of finding the perfect formula, he only managed to disorientate players. This was the first coaching job for Guegan, and unfortunately the lack of experience was a major setback. Last round for example he introduced central midfielders Rodriguez and Ndom in the lineup. The midfield is the backbone of a football team, and starting with two central midfielders from the second squad is not exactly ideal, especially if you are threatened by relegation. It is no surprise that Guegan was sacked and his job was given to David Guion, who used to be in charge of the second team.

Hosts will welcome back midfielder Kankava after suspension.

MONTPELLIER

Montpellier got a comfortable victory last week against Troyes, even if they played in 10 for an entire half (finished 4-1).

Central defender Hilton got a red card in the first half, but that didn’t stop Montpellier from pushing the game forward and corning opponents. Forwards Camara and Ninga showed increased playing appetite, and seem to enjoy playing football when there is no pressure of the results.

The midfield also looked really good, with Boudebouz coordinating the play, and Martin and Dabo on the sides. Important midfielder Sanson returned from injury, played for about 10 minutes, and most probably we will see more of him in the future rounds.

Montpellier will miss central defender Hilton who is suspended.

BETTING

Reims may need points, but they are playing poor football, players are confused, and their desperation for points will surely backfire. MONTPELIER +0.25 at 2.10
