PSG seem to have bounced back after the disappointing elimination from Champions League. They destroyed Caen on home ground (won 6-0), qualified for the final of Coupe de France and won Coupe de la Ligue.
There’s not much motivation for them in Ligue1, but at least in home games PSG will always be driven by their superstars status.
It doesn’t really matter if Cavani or Maxwell start only on the bench, like it happened in the Coupe de la Ligue final for example, there is always a talented player waiting for the opportunity to be in the lineup.
Hosts will be without midfielder Rabiot who is suspended.
Rennes were a bit lucky to win a point last week against Monaco, since opponents created the best of chances, and Rennes found the equalizer 10 minutes before the final whistle.
It was very surprising to see Rennes reduce efforts all of a sudden, especially since about a month ago, they had a decent chance for qualifying in Europe next season.
Rennes were never a force in defense, so seeing them conceding is no surprise. But scoring only once in the last three rounds was unexpected, especially given the good form of young forward Dembele, and the return from injury of forward Sio.
Dembele is a truly gifted player and will definitely play a major role at the national team in the following years. At the moment he is still young, but very ambitious and it will mean the world to him to score against PSG. Rennes are still fighting for the 6th place in Ligue1, that will assure a presence in Europa League, in case PSG win Coupe de France, so there is plenty of motivation.
Guests will have to do without central defender Diagne who is suspended.
Rennes are very offensive minded as of late and aren’t accustomed with defensive tactics. This game has all the ingredients of a fast paced encounter with plenty of scoring chances. OVER 3 GOALS at 1.87
UPDATE: PSG will miss midfielder Matuidi but welcome back Thiago Motta. Guests will be without winger Grosicki
