PSG resumed the league in style, winning 3-0 away at a decent team, Reims.
But truth is PSG were lucky to escape without conceding as Reims had their share of chances and even missed a penalty.
Even if central defender Thiago Silva returned from injury before the international break, PSG’s defense seems more fragile than before. The weakest part of the team and constantly prone to errors is the right flank where fullback Jallet seems disconnected most the times and central defender Alex too slow to cover for him. This flaw was spotted by coach Blanc and defensive midfielder Verratti was put in charge of that sector. Last game Verratti was even more defensive than Thiago Motta…
But Verratti is still young and precipitated, especially against decent opponents. He is also got a violent temper and some of his interventions can be very dangerous. For example he never hesitates to foul from behind, giving away dangerous free-kicks or even penalties (like it happened last round vs Reims).
The result from the 1st game (4-1 to PSG) is misleading to say the least. I don’t know if Olympiakos deserved a draw or not, but the 3 goals loss is unjust. Besides scoring, Olympiakos missed several great chances while PSG scored only from set pieces. It was one of the luckiest games for PSG.
If Olympiakos did their homework, and at this level I trust they did, they will be pushing more on the left flank where the opposition is fragile.
I see young Verratti having huge problems against experienced Saviola. This battle could guarantee at least a goal for the Greek side.
I can not trust PSG with fullback Jallet being absent minded, central defender Alex often late and defensive midfielder Verratti imprudent. Even if Ibra will score a hat-trick, Oly can also score at least once.
Olympiakos to score at the odds of 1.72 for me with medium confidence.
Another good bet is Verratti to get booked. Odds on this one should be at least 3.00. NordicBet should have this bet but it is too early now, most probably the odds will be on tomorrow. I will update on this.
UPDATE: Kind of disappointed with the odds on Verratti to get booked, only 2.73. But it will have to do.
