Really disappointing result for PSG in the midweek game against Ludogorets (finished 2-2). PSG needed 3 points in order to win the group, but they couldn’t get more than a draw (scored the equalizer late in extra time), in-spite controlling the entire game.
Last week PSG suffered the first Ligue1 defeat, so this is undoubtedly a difficult period for them.
They fully control all games, but are extremely vulnerable on counters. It’s simply inexplicable how come experienced defenders like Thiago Silva and Marquinhos are so insecure. Even keeper Areola lacks confidence and is hesitant in interventions.
PSG conceded 5 goals in the last 2 games, and nowadays it seems like every single attack can turn into a goal.
Hosts will miss midfielders Pastore and Rabiot, but welcome back Verratti.
It was too late for Nice to qualify for the European spring, so coach Favre used the second team in the midweek game against Krasnodar. It was interesting to see reserves playing the same fast paced football as regulars, with many one touch passes and through balls. It was another proof that all players are replaceable, and that Nice can be dangerous regardless the injury situation. They won 2-1 in the end, but the fact that opponents got a red card also played a big role.
The good news is that striker Balotelli finally returned from injury. He played only a half, but it was more of a light training session, instead of an official game.
Nice have the best defense in Ligue1 (both on paper and in the field), and if there is a French team who can stand ground against PSG, it is definitely Nice.
Guests will have to do without winger Eysseric.
For Nice, the game against PSG couldn’t have arrived at a better moment. They are in good form, Balotelli is back, and on the other hand the PSG are going through a difficult moment. NICE +1.25 at 2.17
