PSG Marseille Preview

psg marseille preview

Difficult game for PSG last round away at Nancy (won 2-1). They finished the game being cornered by a newly promoted side, and defending with all players. PSG started in force, like they always do, but took the foot off the gas early in the first half.

At PSG fullbacks play a huge role, and both Kurzawa and Aurier missed last round. As a consequence they couldn’t make their usual game any longer. Things went back to normal on Tuesday in Champions League, as both regular fullbacks returned to action, and PSG won without emotions against Basel (finished 3-0).

Hosts will once again miss midfielder Pastore, but welcome back Motta after injury.

Marseille scored very early last round against Metz, but faded afterwards and even had difficulties protecting the lead in the end (won 1-0).

Playmaker Cabella missed the game through injury (most probably will sit out again this round) and there was no proper link between players in the attacking phase. “Every man for himself”, that seems to be Marseille’s motto recently. Thauvin and Gomis are very selfish, while N’Jie and Sarr aren’t very skilled.

Midfielder Diarra returned from injury last round, was active only in the defensive phase, but was very slow and easily outrun by younger opponents.

Guests will welcome back midfielder Zambo Anguissa after suspension, but will miss Vainqueur who suffered an injury last round. Midfielders Alessandrini and Cabella will also miss again.

PSG start in force most games, but usually they get bored pretty quickly. Hopefully that won’t be the case against Marseille, since they are historic rivals and this game should be a derby. Marseille simply don’t have enough power to stand in PSG’s way. PSG -1.5 at 1.91
