PSG Lyon Preview

psg lyon preview

PSG didn’t pushed too hard in the midweek Champions League game against Shakhtar (they were already qualified) but still won 2-0. Although they used the best possible team PSG still managed to preserve energy as they didn’t perform at full potential.

They have a healthy lead over second place in Ligue1, they have also qualified for the European spring, and now PSG can relax. But to be honest they have been pretty relaxed since this season started, and only in the games against Real Madrid they seemed a bit nervous.

PSG may welcome back midfielder Verratti after injury.

It was surprising to see Lyon winning away at Valencia in the Champions League midweek game (finished 2-0). They scored both goals against the run of play, and besides the funds awarded by UEFA for every victory, that result didn’t help Lyon at all as their European adventure was already over.

Playmaker Valbuena missed that game and is not yet clear if he will be available against PSG. The official story is that Valbuena is injured but many believe he was left outside the squad to solve his legal issues in the sex tape scandal. This scandal severely affected Valbeuna’s performances, and it’s no coincidence that Lyon’s decline began when the entire affair started.

Lyon may miss forward Lacazette who suffered an injury against Valencia. Defender Umtiti is also highly doubtful.

With or without Valbuena it won’t make much of a difference against champions PSG. Lyon have been pretty vulnerable on the flanks lately and PSG’s wingers could have a field day. PSG -1.75 at 1.98
