PSG Lille Preview

psg lille preview

No doubt PSG are already thinking at the Champions League game next week against Chelsea, but in the same time they surely want to be in full confidence for that encounter.

It’s been a tough schedule for PSG with games against St Etienne, Marseille, Lyon and now Lille, but with players like Marquinhos, Cavani and Kurzawa on the bench, PSG can always avoid tiredness.

Besides the rotation, PSG also tried to preserve energy by concentrating mostly on long balls and avoiding hard efforts. Due to the huge difference in value in comparison to most opponents, PSG still got positive results.

In the midweek Cup game against Lyon, Di Maria, David Luiz and Matuidi were the ones who started on the bench. It was a one sided encounter, that ended in a comfortable win for PSG.

Lille looked very good last round against Rennes, but everything changed when playmaker Boufal got a red card with 20 minutes to go. Opponents took charge and the equalizer was a normal consequence (finished 1-1).

Loosing playmaker Boufal is a huge blow, as he was the only one initiating Lille’s offensive actions. Without Boufal the offensive strength diminishes to minimum levels.

Lille may have a decent defense, but there is not much they can do when there is constant pressure.

Forward Eder scored his first goal for Lille last round, but suffered an injury immediately after and is doubtful at the moment.

This game should have only one direction, with PSG in charge since the first whistle. It will be a miracle if Lille will have a couple of decent shots on target, especially with Boufal suspended. PSG -1.5 at 2.10
