Slow start of 2015 for PSG after a shameful loss away at Bastia (lost 4-2) and an unconvincing victory in the Cup at St Etienne (won 1-0).
PSG rested only 3 players in the midweek Cup game, fullbacks Van der Wiel and Maxwell and keeper Sirigu who just returned from injury.
Also Cavani and Lavezzi missed both games in 2015 as they were suspended by coach Blanc after arriving late at the club. Their absences had a major impact on PSG’s playing style as they had difficulties in pushing the game inside opponents’ penalty box. Ibrahimovic was still there but it seems he prefers Cavani and Lavezzi instead of Lucas and Pastore.
Things should get back to normal this round and seeing this will be PSG’s 1st official game on home ground in 2015 they should be fired up and hungry for action.
It is a miracle how come Evian got away with 1 point last round against Rennes (finished 1-1). Central defender Angoula was injured (once again doubtful this round) and central midfielder Sorlin started again as a central defender. He was hesitant to say the least and even gave away a penalty.
In midfield Evian started with Tejeda and young Thomasson and both of them have offensive profiles (Thomasson even scored last round) meaning almost no support for an already fragile central defense.
It will be almost impossible for Evian to improve the defensive phase since 3 defenders are still away on international duty: Mongongu, Menshah and Kone.
The Champions League game against Chelsea is just 1 month away and PSG need to start feeling like Champions again. The home ground game against defensively depleted Evian should be the perfect opportunity for that. PSG -2 at 1.90
