PSG Dijon Preview

psg dijon preview

After a few disappointing performances PSG can finally relax now. Last round they put on a really convincing display and destroyed Caen 6-0.

Cavani scored 4 goals in the first half (it was maybe the best first half in his entire career) and was by far the man of the match. He was substituted at half time in order to preserve energy, and nobody should be surprised if Cavani will start only on the bench this round.

It’s a tough schedule for PSG, so a couple of fringe players may find their way in the lineup. Forwards Jese and Augustin could start upfront, while midfielder Pastore could return to the lineup after sitting only on the bench last round.

No matter the changes, PSG are still at least a class above most Ligue 1 sides.

Hosts will be without fullbacks Aurier and Kurzawa, midfielder Verratti and forward Ben Arfa.

Dijon managed to imposethe rhythm last round against Metz, but only after opponents got a red card with around half an hour to go (finished 0-0). Dijon were also very lucky, as opponents missed a penalty soon after the game started, a penalty that could have changed the fate of the game. In all fairness we should mention that Dijon also missed a penalty with 10 minutes to go, a miss that surely affected the morale.

The bad news is that forward Tavares suffered an injury and will sit out this week. Without Tavares the attacking potential will diminish considerably.

Coach Dall’Oglio is no quitter, but he seems like a realistic person and there’s a good possibility that Dijon will start with a couple of substitutes, so they won’t waste too much energy on a lost cause.

Besides Tavares, Dijon will also miss winger Amalfitano and midfielder Martin.

One sided encounter is foreseen with PSG in charge from the first whistle. Even if Cavani and Di Maria will sit only on the bench, hosts have plenty of talent available to get a comfortable victory. PSG -2.5 at 2.00
