PSG made many wrong steps this season, and in the end they got punished for the superficial attitude.
They relied too much on individual skills, and when Cavani or Di Maria were out of form, PSG struggled to find the net. The chances created weren’t convincing enough, especially in comparison to last season when PSG had scored a total of 102 goals (this season they scored only 82 so far).
PSG may be a bit demoralized, seeing that Monaco were crowned Champions in midweek after defeating St Etienne. Coach Emery may make a few changes, trying to preserve energy for the Coupe de France final next week against Angers.
PSG will be without defenders Kurzwa, Meunier and Thiago Silva, and midfielder Verratti.
Caen are outside the relegation zone at the moment but the situation is very complicated. Lorient are only 1 point behind and have a better goal difference, so with only a draw Lorient can escape relegation (if Caen lose away at PSG).
Most probably Caen will focus efforts in the defensive phase, like they always do in away games. Actually in 2017 Caen picked up more points in away games than at home. They suffered only 3 away from home defeats in 2017, and in all games they have been pretty close to snatching a draw.
Caen will be without defenders Yahia, Da Silva and Dabo, midfielders Adeoti and Seube, winger Bazile and forward Santini.
Taking in account Caen’s ability to mobilize in away games, their need for points, PSG’s diminished morale and maybe even a small rotation, the value is in on the away side. CAEN +2 at 2.20
