Not such a good moment for PSG who struggled in the midweek Champions League game at Ludogorets (won 3-1 in the end), after being defeated by Toulouse in Ligue1 (lost 2-0).
PSG never really had an attacking minded midfielder (maybe except Pastore), but when Ibrahimovic was around he used to be the perfect link between midfielders and the other forwards. Now they don’t have such a link anymore, as Di Maria and Lucas have different profiles, Cavani is a pure finisher and Ben Arfa has failed to adapt (didn’t even made the squad recently). Fullback Maxwell plays a huge role in PSG’s strategy, but recently Kurzawa returned from injury and may take back his place in the lineup.
PSG focus mostly on creating down the flanks, so both fullbacks play a crucial role. But right fullback Aurier is a big disappointment so far (easily losses possession, often outplayed, even got a red card last round), so PSG have to push mostly on the left side (where Maxwell plays).
Hosts will have to do without fullback Aurier (suspended), midfielder Pastore and forward Jese (injured).
Another disappointing performance for Bordeaux on home ground (0-0 against Caen). Bordeaux have major difficulties when they are favorites and need to open up their opponents. That is why they failed to score in the last two home games.
On the other hand they are doing excellent in away games (scored 6 goals in the last two away games), and it seems they are built for counter attacking tactics.
Bordeaux constantly use 4 attacking minded players, and can easily move the play in all areas of the field. This is a major advantage when up against opponents who control the game, as they can easily surprise on counters.
Although they kept two consecutive clean sheets, Bordeaux aren’t very confident in defense, and keeper Carrasso remains the most important player for the defensive phase.
Guests welcome back important forward Rolan after suspension and midfielder Toulalan after injury.
PSG conceded 6 goals so far, almost 1 per round, and that’s not really encouraging considering their aspirations. Bordeaux have good chances to find the net, especially since forward Menez used to play for PSG and may be extra motivated. BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE at 2.00
