Not even the most optimistic of Nice’s fans expected their team to win away at Marseille last round (finished 1-0).
Defensively Nice were very organized and succeeded in dealing with a team that nowadays seems to be lacking creativity. With striker Cvitanich heavily out-of-form Nice relied mostly on set-pieces. Remarkably, this strategy worked for them.
Striker Cvitanich will be suspended for this game, but despite him being team’s top-scorer his absence can go unnoticed given the poor recent form. His replacement can be young Bosetti, a young and talented player who is eager to prove himself.
Besides Cvitanich, in comparison to last round, Nice could miss winger Pied who is doubtful at the moment, but they will welcome back fullback Palun who fulfilled his suspension.
There are no news regarding the conditions of fullback Kolodziejczak, central midfielder Digard and attacking midfielder Bruins, so they may miss once again.
Last round Bastia tried to concentrate more players in defense hoping that there will no spaces left for PSG’s players to exploit. But they were unaccustomed with playing with 5 defenders, and besides, the difference in value was just too big for Bastia to resist (ended 3-0 for PSG).
Leaving that game aside, as it’s not really that relevant, Bastia has a pale face recently, they move in slow motion. Newly arrived striker Cisse failed to make an impact and Bastia once again rotates strikers in the attempt to find the best formula.
Play-maker Boudebouz has alternating performances and recently even took the foot off the gas.
In defense they look somewhat decent but no player excels in tackling or positioning.
Regardless they will be playing without top-scorer Cvitanich and a couple of other players who are out for some rounds already, Nice have a clear advantage just by being more lively in every game. Nice to win at 2.10
UPDATE: The discipline commission took the decision to give Nice’s fullback Palun another round of suspension. On the bright side Nice will welcome back Kolodziejczak and Pied after injury. For Bastia, Krasic is back in the squad but Khazri is out.
