Nantes’ midfielders making way for opponents in the 1st round

It seems that Nantes improved a bit in comparison to the first round when they were outplayed on home ground in-spite winning 1-0. Last week Nantes drew 0-0 away at Angers after a game played mostly in midfield and a couple of successful interventions from keeper Riou.

Nantes have great potential especially in the attacking phase where they have young, talented and determined players. The problem is they need to build chemistry, they need to learn how to play together. The midfield with Rongier (20 years old), Adryan (20) and Thomasson (21) is capable of fast paced actions but at this point short passes don’t always find the target. Building playing relations may take longer than usual since players are very young and first of all eager to prove themselves.

Last week Reims prove they can stand ground even against one of the most powerful Ligue1 sides (won 1-0 against Marseille). It is true that Marseille are going through a bad moment but that shouldn’t take away any of Reims’ credit.

After finding the net Reims didn’t stop there and continued to threat (mainly on counters). It seems this season NGog will be the one starting upfront (hard worker) and Reims will rely primarily on actions carried down the flanks by fast wingers Bulot and De Preville.

The central midfield looks really good with Oniangue and Devaux very active in the both the defensive and offensive phase.

Reims should welcome back defender Conte but most probably coach Guegan will use the same winning formula.

At the moment Nantes are simply too inexperienced and don’t deserve to be such huge favorites. Bookies will regret giving them such a status as Reims have a perfect chance to build on the two wins. Reims +0.25 at 2.03

UPDATE: Nantes welcome back midfielder Bedoya after injury but most probably he will be only a bench warmer. Reims’ newly arrived midfielder Kankava should is in the squad for the 1st time.

Nantes: Ré.Riou, Dupé – Kwateng, Djidji, Dubois, Lenjani, Vizcarrondo – Adryan, Bedoya, Deaux, R.Gomis, Rongier, Thomasson, B.Touré – Audel, Sigthorsson, Bammou, Iloki

Reims: Agassa, Placide – M.Fofana, Mandi, Signorino, H.Traoré, Turan, Weber – Bulot, Devaux, Kankava, Mfulu, Oniangué – Charbonnier, De Préville, Kyei, Ngog, Siebatcheu
