Nantes haven’t played in the midweek round and are surely bursting with energy especially since they will be up against champions PSG and all eyes will be on them.
Nantes were surprisingly soft last week away at St Etienne (lost 2-0) and maybe because they got 3 red cards in the last 3 rounds there is this sudden change in attitude.
The chemistry is at low levels in the attacking phase as most players are new to the squad and they are also very young and don’t have much experience. There is no doubt that players are talented but it may take time to achieve full potential, meanwhile they will have one of the most unproductive attacks in the tournament (only 2 goals scored so far).
Nantes will welcome back midfielder Adryan after suspension.
PSG didn’t have any kind of problems in the midweek round against Guingamp. They controlled the entire game and even if opponents had a couple of shots on target there was never the question of the winner (PSG won 3-0).
Di Maria finally scored his first goal for PSG and even if the performance was unconvincing, this goal should boost his confidence and there should be an improvement in the next rounds.
At the moment there is no defense in Ligue1 able to resist the triangles created by PSG’ fullbacks, midfielders and forwards.
Guests will welcome back fullback Aurier after suspension.
PSG may be a bit tired after playing two consecutive midweek games and coach Blanc may make a couple of surprising changes. Nantes have their own problems (in the attacking phase) but due to extra motivation they may be unrecognizable and a surprising result shouldn’t be ruled out.
UPDATE: Nantes will have to do without fullback Sabaly and forwards Sala and Sitghorsson. PSG miss only fullback Van der Wiel
