Nantes – PSG Preview

Not much action between Toulouse and Nantes last week and the 1-1 draw was a just result.

Opponents scored early, withdrew in defense and simply invited Nantes to attack. Nantes may have one of the poorest attacks in Ligue1 but with no opposition in central midfield they simply went forward and in the end found the equalizer.

Nantes sit exactly in the middle of the table 7 points clear the relegation zone. Although on paper they can still relegate there aren’t many real chances for this to happen. Players must feel quite comfortable in the 10th position and as a consequence they may relax a bit.

There are no new injuries so most probably Nantes will use the same lineup as last round.

Finally PSG will welcome back striker Ibrahimovic. They played a few rounds without him and even managed to score 6 goals in a single game (6-1 against Lille 2 rounds ago). There are some analysts saying that Ibrahimovic is intimidating for teammates and they can’t achieve full potential once Ibrahimovic gives them one of his famous looks after a wrong pass.

Other are saying that only thanks to Pastore’s talent and good form PSG forgot about Ibra. It is true that Pastore made some exceptional games recently but having Ibrahimovic back surely won’t hurt and coach Blanc will definitely find a way to exploit at maximum the qualities of both Pastore and Ibrahimovic.

Guests may welcome back fullback Aurier but most probably keeper Sirigu will miss again.

PSG always dominate most their opponents, and against Nantes who aren’t able to hold possession upfront it shouldn’t be any different. There will be constant pressure on Nantes’ defense and PSG should find the net a couple of times. PSG -1.5 at 2.07

UPDATE: Nantes will miss defensive midfielder Hansen. Besides Ibrahimovic PSG also welcome back keeper Sirigu. Fullback Aurier and defender David Luiz will again sit out.
