Even without a couple of regulars (keeper Riou, midfielder Thomasson and forward Bammou) Nantes could have qualified further in the Cup, and only because of a red card and two penalties they were eliminated in extra time.
In Ligue1 Nantes are doing excellent recently with 3 consecutive wins, 6 goals scored and none conceded. They have one of the youngest teams in the tournament, and in the same time one of the most determined and full of energy.
They are very organized, chemistry is at good levels, confidence is running high and the future is really promising for Nantes.
Of course not everything is perfect as once in a while there are too many open spaces in defense, but fortunately for them keeper Riou is in excellent form and is a wall by himself.
Nantes will have to do without defender Djiji who got a red card in the Cup game.
It is difficult to analyze Marseille as they go from one extreme to the other every round. Only one thing is for sure when it comes to Marseille: the defensive problems.
They have kept only one clean sheet so far in Ligue1 and in-spite having experienced and solid players there are always blunders in Marseille’s defensive phase.
There’s not much support from central midfielders who are always more preoccupied by the attacking aspect of the game.
Upfront attacking midfielder Cabella continues to disappoint while striker Batshuayi can miss a penalty now and score from a corner kick after 10 minutes…
There is no doubt that Nantes are more consistent and thanks to the increased enthusiasm and confidence they should be able to get a positive results against a bizarre squad. Nantes +0.25 at 2.12
