Nantes started the second part of the season in force, but tiredness quickly accumulated and they slowly faded. Nantes have incredible potential in all areas of the field and can be very dangerous in normal conditions.
In defense they have very experienced and solid players, in midfield newly arrived Gillet adapted instantly and became a leader, while upfront they have young players bursting with talent and determination.
It will be difficult for Nantes to aim at a position in Europe this season, but they are definitely contenders for European places next year, especially if they manage to keep all current players.
Hosts will have to do without forward Bammou who is suspended.
Lille are sitting on three consecutive wins, but the truth is they struggled in all games. They rely too much on creative midfielder Boufal who is a one man show.
Huge problems are foreseen this round, since Boufal will miss through suspension. Winger Amalfitano has been very active recently (even scored last round), and most probably will play a bigger role in Lille’s strategy.
Defensively Lille are really solid, in-fact they have the second best defense in Ligue1, and usually opponents have major difficulties in finding open spaces.
Guests will also miss fullback Soumaoro due to suspension.
It is difficult to anticipate how this game will develop and only one thing is for sure, Boufal’s absence will be a major advantage for Nantes. Neither side have reasons to push hard and a waiting game shouldn’t be excluded.
UPDATE: Hosts will have to do without defender Djidji
