Nantes once again disappointed last round away at Evian (lost 2-0). They were pale in the offensive phase while at the back they can’t remain concentrated for the entire 90 minutes.
There’s absolutely no similarity between Nantes nowadays and Nantes in 2013. Striker Djordjevic was suspended for a couple of rounds, but just like most of his teammates, he was out-of-form before the suspension. He was also involved in a midweek international friendly (managed to score), but tiredness could have accumulated seeing that Djordjevic is not exactly accustomed with playing 2 games per week (he even used to sit out in Cup games).
Other striker Aristigueta was kind of invisible last round against Evian. He was also involved in a far away international friendly (played in Honduras). Winger Audel suffered an injury last round and is doubtful for this game.
So, even is Djordjevic will return, it doesn’t necessarily means an improvement of the offensive potential. In-fact, all the signs are there for Nantes to disappoint again, attacking wise.
Only because of the referee Ajaccio lost against Lille last round (3-2). There was a clear improvement in Ajaccio’s game, but the referee invented 2 penalties for Lille and history was written. As a side note, it is no wonder there’s no French referee at the upcoming World Cup…
Ajaccio’s fans hope their offensive problems are over and place their confidence in striker Tallo after he netted twice last week.
Play-maker Cavalli suffered an injury and will sit out this round. Contrary to public opinion he is not a key element in Ajaccio’s strategy. They rely mostly on midfielders Lasne and Andre for creating and delivering the assists. Also recently, fullbacks started to play an important role, they advance a lot, especially since coach Bracconi sometimes prefers a defense in 5, and open spaces can be easily covered.
Ajaccio will welcome back defender Tonucci after suspension.
Nantes lack offensive power and will have huge troubles in opening up Ajaccio. The way guests looked lately they are able to hit back and return home with at least 1 point. Ajaccio +0.75 at 2.05.
UPDATE: Nantes will be without striker Aristeguieta, central defender Vizcarrondo and midfielder Gomis. Ajaccio are without striker Oliech (coach choice). Instead, 19 striker Baradji was given a chance.
