Both sides were under-performing recently so the international break should have provided some much need time to get their heads straight and solve all problems.
Montpellier look good from a defensive point of view but problems are clearly visible in the other departments. Midfielders are talented but unfortunately aren’t constant in performances and forwards failed to achieve maximum potential ever-since arriving at Montpellier.
Because of the inconsistency in midfield Montpellier’s defenders are often under huge pressure andsbsb they always crack. This is why Montpellier have conceded exactly 1 goal per game so far in-spite of the solid defense.
Montpellier will welcome back attacking players Bakar and Ait Fana who could add some much needed speed to the offensive phase.
Toulouse had an easy game last round against Metz (won 3-0). Forwards Ben Yedder and Pesic are in top form and both of them scored again last round. Chemistry between the two of them is at high levels nowadays as Pesic provided the assist for Ben Yedder’s goal and the other way around. There is no doubt Toulouse will once again start in the same formula upfront and Danish striker Braithwaite will be only on the bench.
Even if they will welcome back central defender Grigore after suspension, Toulouse may have some defensive problems this round. First of all Spajic suffered an injury and is doubtful at the moment and secondly there could be some tiredness accumulated after defenders Grigore, Moubandje and defensive midfielder Doumbia were involved in international friendlies.
Toulouse will welcome back midfielder Didot after injury.
Both sides will be eager to resume the tournament with a positive result. With Bakar and Ait Fana back in the squad hosts may add a bit of speed that could help them take advantage of Toulouse’s tired defense. But on the other hand with Ben Yedder and Pesic in excellent form guests can surely net at least once. Over 2.25 goals at 2.14
UPDATE: Montpellier will miss striker Montano due to injury. Guests’ defender Spajic is fit for action.
