It was a balanced game between Troyes and Montpellier last round, and in the end only Montpellier’s experience made the difference (Montpellier won 1-0).
Central midfielders Shkiri and Lasne made an excellent game, especially from a defensive point of view. Shkiri was everywhere, and managed to stop many actions by himself.
Even attacking midfielders Roussilon and Sessegnon were involved in the defensive phase. As expected in these conditions, attacking-wise Montpellier weren’t very active (scored following a corner), and most probably they will fully focus on defending against PSG.
PSG easily won all points last week against Lyon, but they weren’t as inspired as usual (won 2-0). In midfield they weren’t very creative, and upfront they wasted a few important chances (even missed a penalty).
The good news is that they kept a clean sheet against one of the most dangerous side in Ligue 1. In case fullbacks advanced, midfielders Motta and Rabiot always provided support and it was impossible to catch PSG off guard. The most important chance created by opponents was a long range missile from outside the penalty box.
There is some tension at PSG, as Cavani and Neymar fought last week over a penalty, and it appears the conflict escalated in the locker room. As a result, Neymar was left outside the squad this round.
Hosts will once again miss forward Sio.
PSG didn’t seem very creative last round, and now with Neymar out, things could get worse. Montpellier’s midfielders Lasne and Shkiri in excellent form, and will surely make life miserable for PSG’s stars. Montpellier + 1.75 at 1.88
