Ligue1 is getting weirder by the day. Montpellier created three scoring opportunities last week, scored four goals and got their first Ligue1 win of 2016 (4-0 away at Gazelec Ajaccio)
Winger Dabo was the man of the match with two goals scored in less than 10 minutes, and plenty of involvement in the defensive phase as well.
Montpellier have quite a talented squad, with Boudebouz, Martin and Sanson (injured at the moment) in midfield, but in-spite the victory last round they aren’t performing at full potential. The positive result last round is in no way proof of real change.
Hosts will be without suspended defender Congre.
Last week Marseille took only one point after equalizing late in extra time, in-spite holding most of the possession (1-1 against Lille).
Winger Alessandrini still hasn’t recovered from injury and now they also lost striker Batshuayi due to suspension. Batshuayi will certainly be missed, even if sometimes he can be very annoying after missing the target from only a couple of meters.
At least Marseille will improve defensively since keeper Mandanda resumed training after missing through injury last week.
Guests will also miss midfielder Barrada who is suspended.
These teams met about two weeks ago in the Cup when Marseille won 2-0 without many problems. Montepllier may have destroyed Gazelec Ajaccio last week, but the reality is they haven’t improved at all. Odds aren’t properly adjusted and the value is definitely on Marseille. Even without striker Batshuayi, Marseille still have skilled Cabella and N’Koudou who are more than capable of making the difference. Marseille DNB at 2.08
UPDATE: Good news for Marseille as they finally welcome back winger Alessandrini
