Montpellier Lorient Preview

MONTPELLIER

After winning only 1 point in the last 5 rounds, Montpellier finally got back on the right track (won 2-0 away at Caen). The victory is a bit undeserved considering how the game progressed, but a win is still a win.

Maybe the most disappointing aspect was the performance of playmaker Boudebouz, who was slow, predictable and lacked inspiration. He is by far the most important player for Montpellier, and when he is out of form, the entire team suffers.

At the moment Montpellier are 5 points above the relegation zone, but with opponents like PSG and Lyon in future rounds, you can never be sure of survival.

There are no surprises in Montpellier’s squad.

LORIENT

Lorient made an excellent game last week away at Lyon. They conceded early in the first half, and nobody really expected them to bounce back in such a manner (won 4-1).

Coach Casoni used a very offensive formula, with Marveaux and Waris on the wings, and Aliadiere and Moukandjo upfront. All of them can easily play in the center forward position, so Lorient were extremely dangerous on counters.

In defense Lorient were surprisingly confident, and successfully stood ground against players like Lacazette and Fekir.

Although they are still heavily threatened by relegation, confidence is running high after 3 consecutive victories.

Guests will miss midfielder Mesloub and forward Alidiere.

BETTING

With Boudebouz out-of-form, it will be difficult for Montpellier to impose the rhythm. This is Lorient’s moment and the value is definitely on them. LORIENT +0.5 at 1.98
