Wonderful display from Montpellier last round away at Reims (won 4-2). It is true that opponents Reims had some problems with injuries, but that shouldn’t take away any of Montpellier’s credit.
Play-maker Cabella is in the best form of the season so far. Until now winger Mounier never really succeeded in achieving full potential since transferring at Montpellier. Even striker Niang, whom I criticized at first and whose qualities I still doubt, is always there at the right moment and keeps on scoring. Kind of like a miniature Inzaghi.
At the back Montpellier concede more than usual but that’s only because they also score more goals than before, and relax too much and too early in the game.
In comparison to last round Montpellier will miss fullback Congre (injured) and central midfielder Marveaux (suspended), but they have proper replacements (Tiene and Martin).
There aren’t many words out-there to describe how disappointing Evian were last round. Not to mention the game was against one of the poorest Ligue1 sides, who missed a couple of important players (1-1 vs Ajaccio).
Evian struggled for 85 minutes to open up Ajaccio and after they finally achieved their goal, Evian could not hold the lead and were equalized in the last minute.
Newly transferred in fullback Abdallah and striker De Melo were both starters, and both of the were a letdown. De Melo could barely touch the ball and Abdallah is to be blamed for the goal conceded.
Evian will most likely use the exact same team as last round.
Evian are inferior to Montpellier both defensively and offensively. Seeing the opponent is completely out-of-form ,this should be the 4th consecutive Ligue1 win for Montpellier (now they have 3).
Montpellier to win is great accumulator material. For a single bet, Montpellier -0.75 at 1.90 can be taken with medium to high stakes.
