MONTPELLIER

Montpellier lost both Ligue1 games so far in 2016 with the same scoreline 1-0. In both games they struggled to advance and most their actions came to a halt when trying to get inside opponents’ penalty box.

Playmaker Boudebouz remains the most important player and the one constantly pushing the game forward. The other attacking players aren’t exactly in the best of forms, but appear to be inspired by Boudebouz and make efforts to keep up with him.

Montpellier used a mixed squad in the midweek Cup game away at Marseille and couldn’t create much problems for opponents (lost 2-0).

Defender Congre was suspended for the Cup game but may return this round, depending on what the Discipline Commission will decide.

CAEN

Poor start of 2016 for Caen who look totally different in comparison to the first part of the season.

They seem clueless when trying to advance, and if by any chance midfielder Feret creates a tunnel, forwards are out-of-form and fail to understand Feret’s intentions. Especially forward Delort is unrecognizable and barely touches the ball anymore.

Caen also lost form defensively and there is almost no support for defenders nowadays. Defensive midfielder Seube is easily outplayed and has problems in resisting for 90 minutes.

It was a good first part of the season for Caen, but now a decline should follow.

Caen will be without winger Bazile who got injured once again.

BETTING

Both sides are in poor form at the moment, but it seems that only Montpelleir have enough resources to get back to winning days. Hosts should be the ones imposing the rythm, and given the poor form of Caen’s forwards, Montpellier should be safe when defending against counters. Montpellier -0.5 at 2.28
